Dog Litter Training

Do you ever have trouble with your puppy or dog going to the bathroom in your house, when you are gone or at work?

At Pet World we have dog litter pans, and Second Nature dog litter that is made for dogs and puppies to use. This highly absorbent litter is made from paper and wood pulp products. Second Nature dog litter smells good too.

This litter system is great for small breed dogs that don't like to go out when it is cold, wet, snowy or icy. They can just go in their litter pan, and it can be scooped out, just like with a cat. It is very convenient.

All you do is find a good spot in your house that you can put the litter pan in, and put about 1½ to 2 inches of dog litter in the pan. Then it helps to put some of your dog’s liquid and/or solid waste into the pan to help him or her get the idea to use it.

It also helps to confine your dog to a small area until he or she starts using the litter pan regularly. When you see your pet using the litter box, praise him or her greatly. If your pet does eliminate somewhere else, make sure that you get it cleaned totally, using a strong enzyme cleaner, so your dog does not go back there.

If your dog tries to eat some of the litter, distract him or her with your voice, and maybe some toys to chew on. Bitter apple can be sprayed temporarily to deter your pet.
