Dogs – Fun, Fitness & Safety

If you have a dog or a puppy, you know how much they love to play. You will want to make sure that your dog has plenty of toys to keep him occupied. When puppies are young you will probably want to get them different kinds of toys than when they are grown up. A young puppy will be very active, and will like to chase balls, and chew on things. For puppies , the rope toys are very good, as they can chew on these, and play with them too. The hard rubber toys are good too, as they are good for teething puppies, and they tend to last a long time. Fleece toys are good too, and most dogs and puppies like them. There won't be a shortage of toys to choose from to buy for your dog or puppy.

After you get done playing with your dog, you may want to take him for a walk. It is a good idea to invest in a good collar, or harness for walking your dog. Harnesses are good as they tend to pull less on the neck , if your dog pulls very hard. Most leashes come in 4 ft., 6 ft. or you may want to get a retractable lead that can be regulated from just a few feet, up to 16 feet. These will have locks on them, so you can stop your dog if you don't want him to get too far away.

One of the responsibilities of owning a dog or puppy, is cleaning up after them. So, if you walk your dog in the morning, right after he eats, he may want to go potty. After he does this, you will want to have a pooper scooper, or a poop bag to pick up his droppings.

This always keeps the neighbors happy. There are many different types of waste handling devices made.

A company now makes a litter pan for dogs and puppies, with litter to go with it. This litter is very absorbent, and scented to attract the dog to it. A litter pan is nice if you have to leave your dog all day while you are at work. Once they get trained to use this litter pan, they will use it all of the time to go potty in. Then you just scoop it out to clean it.

If you have a dog or puppy, you will want to make sure that you have an I.D. tag to attach to his collar. If he should run off and get lost, an I.D. tag will help anyone who finds him to find you.

If you travel with your dog, you may want to get a safety harness that will attach to the seat belt. This will help to keep your dog from getting jostled around. You can also put them in a carrier on the seat. If you are taking your dog on a boat, or near water, you may want to get him or her a life jacket. Even if your dog can swim, if there is a boating accident, he may not be able to swim, and the life jacket will keep him or her afloat.
