Picture of two white bunnies. There are many pet owners that keep small animals as pets. These range from mice and rats to hamsters, gerbils, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hedgehogs and rabbits. These are some of the more commonly kept small pets, but there are more exotic small pets.  These small creatures can make very good pets and can be quite lovable. Most will get very tame and show some affection for their owners.

PET WORLD FACTS

Pet World HamstersWhy do hamsters fight?  Hamsters in the wild are loners.  Free-living hamsters seek out a territory for themselves and defend it vigorously against intruders.  A female, for example tolerates a mate only for mating, and then drives him away.  In three to four weeks, when the babies are independent, she will then drive them away also.  This doesn't mean that a hamster doesn't make a good pet.  A well cared for hamster can become quite tame, once they get confortable with you and their surroundings.
